Today in class I learned the advantages of incorporating Smart Boards into lessons. Smart boards help engage students in interactive learning. It can be a great tool for formative assessment as well. The resources within Smart Boards allow teachers to present information in countlessly creative ways. Videos can be paused and drawn on, and screen captures can be taken and worked into a lesson sponatneously. It allows the lesson to evolve, grow and branch out.

Today I learned valuable tips about making an effective powerpoint. Some of those important tips included legibility and using a 36 point font, simplicity is best, and using visuals to convey and underline the message. I also learned that templates are often overused. To ensure coherence keep slide consistent. Do not over animate your powerpoint especially to transition.
As a blogger I never realized the potential of the tool I have been using for months, especially in the classroom. While blogging can be a fun and meaningful hobby it also has incredible aspects that can help foster learning and relationships with classmates, parents, teachers, and technology. By ensuring that you meet all privacy measures and policies set in place by your school, each student can create their own blog and comment on a classroom blog. This encourages students to explore technology, which in today’s society is a major form of communication and expression. The use blogs also sparks interest in the students who are constantly exploring and adapting to the ever-changing world of technology. Teacher will see more engagement from their students, especially those who tend to be quieter in the classroom setting. Parents will also be able to benefit from classroom blogs because they will be able to see their child contributing daily in classroom discussion forums and be aware of the topics being covered. Overall blogs in the classroom can create a sense of community that reaches beyond the walls of the school.
