Nice to meet you,
I was raised in Fort McMurray. I graduated from the University of Lethbridge, where I received a Bachelor of Education with Great Distinction, and a Bachelor of Arts. My major is in English and my minor is in Drama. I have been teaching at the high school level ever since.
I began my journey to become a teacher in Fort McMurray, at Keyano College. I completed my first two years there. I then transferred to the University of Lethbridge in Fall 2011, where I completed my degrees. I took full advantage of my post-secondary experience by playing college level soccer and basketball. I was also elected as the Student Union's President for the KCSA.
In 2014, I was hired as a high school humanities teacher at W.H. Croxford. I have had the opportunity to help open a brand new school. With Rocky View School District I have been able to grow my practice. By applying 21st Century competencies, High School Redesign, and Outcome-Bases Assessment, I have been able to develop a strong toolbox as an educator.
I co-founded the Mechatronics Program at W.H. Croxford with my partner teacher. Together, we have created a program that infuses the passion subjects of mechatronics into core classes such as English and Social. I am the humanities half of this program and design my courses and assessments around authentic real-world experiences. One such example would be our video game development project. Students are asked to create a video game pitch for their independent game ideas. They must create fully formed characters, and include a narrative that follows the plot elements. They must practice delivering pitches to investors as well as
develop strong visuals using design thinking. After successfully presenting their completed proposals, students then code their games in Unity.
I am excited to continue my journey of life long learning. Thank you for taking the time to learn a little bit about me.

I knew who I was when I got up this morning, but I think I must have been changed several times since then
